About Hilditch Pottery
Shapes and patterns evolved to reflect the changing taste in fashions. The interest taken in landscaped country estates with open views and romantic scenes influenced the china painters. More skilful portrayal of light and use of color may be seen. Two further patterns on a white ground are known. The landscapes are now contained in elaborate gilded scrolls and a repetitive feature of the later Hilditch landscapes emerges, that of small figures which feature in the foreground.
